Celebrating 100+ Years of Ukulele Joy

YOUR ANNUAL INVITATION AWAITS

Join us in sunny Southern California, the perfect backdrop to celebrate the four-stringed marvel that’s been spreading joy for over a century!

The 9th annual festival kicks off Friday, September 19 with a VIP Meet-and-Greet (sold out), then continues Saturday, September 20 — the Main Event! Enjoy a full day of workshops & continuous live performances by today's top ukulele artists from around the world — all for one low, flat admission price. Kids 12 & under are free with a paid adult.

Sunday, September 21: Brunch Hangout — workshops and jams with Bernadette Mata & Kimo Hussey followed by the afternoon concert featuring GRAMMY winners Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer with Chinese hammered dulcimer virtuoso Chao Tian in From China to Appalachia, a blending of American roots and Chinese folk in a one-of-a-kind cross-cultural performance.

More Than Music — It’s ‘Ohana

Each year, ukulele lovers from across California, the U.S., and even around the world come to the Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival to share their passion for this little four-string wonder. Whether you’re strumming your first chord or learning advanced techniques, you’ll find connection, inspiration, and the warmth of fellow music lovers in a weekend filled with strumming, singing, and aloha.

Many guests leave with more than just new skills — they discover local ukulele groups they didn’t know existed, building friendships and staying connected long after the festival wraps. It’s a celebration that unites players from near and far, strengthening the global ukulele ‘ohana one strum at a time. 🌺🎶

Bring your ukulele, your friends, and your aloha spirit — this is one celebration you won’t want to miss! 🌺🎸

ABOUT

Aloha! My name is Mitch Chang, I founded the annual Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival in 2015. I'm a University of Hawaii music department graduate whose very first instrument was the ukulele. After moving to Southern California in 2001, I had the opportunity to study ukulele jazz with renowned ukulele musician and former big band leader Bill Tapia, an Ukulele Hall Of Fame inductee nominated by one of my UH professors Byron Yasui.

My vision for the Festival is to always make it as easy as possible for families and ukulele fans of all ages, interest and ability levels to discover/rediscover the ukulele in a space where they will be supported and encouraged. We strive to make the annual festival a true community-based event and one that truly showcases the diversity and versatility of the little four-stringed instrument with artists covering the gamut of styles and genres including Hawaiian, Fingerstyle, blues, jazz, folk, Americana, singer-songwriter, pop and even classical.

Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival is an invitational event produced by Kala Koa Entertainment, along with other Kala Koa signature events: the Southern California Slack Key Festival and the Los Angeles International Flamenco Festival.

Be sure to join the email list for news and updates. See you in sunny Southern California soon!
