SATURDAY WORKSHOPS

You're comfortable with the basic chords and switching between them, can keep a steady strum and play a handful of songs start to finish. Workshops at this level build your skills while keeping it fun and approachable

You know a wider range of chords, including some barre chords, can hear & play different strum patterns and can execute simple fingerpicking. You're comfortable and confident keeping tempo and playing along with others. 

You're confident across the fretboard with chords, fingerstyle, and chord melody and can transpose keys, improvise, or solo comfortably. You're familiar with complex rhythms and multiple genres and can determine chord progressions by ear. 

Conrad Cayman - Intermediate Connecting chords with the bass allows you to add color to songs and the folks you’re playing with. In this session we’ll play through common progressions with different ideas of connecting the chords. Ian O'Sullivan - Intermediate

Explore one of Hawaiʻi’s most beloved songs through beautiful fingerstyle arrangement: “Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī,” Hawaiʻi’s former national anthem. Robert Krout, Music Therapist - This experiential session will examine how sharing music on ukulele can enhance the quality of life of player, listener, and community and explore how the nervous system and body process and respond to music. Songs and improvisations will highlight topics covered.

Craig Chee & Sarah Maisel - Confident Beginner      A variety of exercises will help train your ear to recognize note intervals, identify chord changes, and develop the confidence to play by ear. This class is perfect for anyone who has never learned to play by ear, as well as those who have some experience but want to strengthen their listening skills and become more confident musicians.
